It contains high concentrations of oligomeric proanthocyanidin (OPC), which can reduce free radical damage of blood vessel cells and protect against cardiovascular diseases. Grape is also a major source of resveratrol. Resveratrol affects the activity of enzymes named sirtuins. Sirtuins play essential roles in a myriad of biological pathways that related in aging process. Resveratrol is used for “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), lowering “bad” (LDL) cholesterol levels, increasing “good” (HDL) cholesterol levels, and preventing cancer. In addition, it may protect nerve cells from damage and the buildup of plaque that can lead to Alzheimer’s, as well as prevent diabetes.

It can also help prevent high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Polygonum cuspidatum

Sirtuins play essential roles in a myriad of biological pathways that related in aging process. Resveratrol is used for “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), lowering “bad” (LDL) cholesterol levels, increasing “good” (HDL) cholesterol levels, and preventing cancer. In addition, it may protect nerve cells from damage and the buildup of plaque that can lead to Alzheimer’s, as well as prevent diabetes.
